Minutes March 10, 2020
Meeting held in Kinsmen Pavilion at Richmond Nature Park, 7:30 pm
There were about 45 people in attendance.
Executives in attendance: Alan Wong (President), Jonathan Jakes (Vice President), Gregg Ashby (Secretary), Jean Stewart (Member at large), Jacques McCrae (Treasurer)
- Welcome and introduction of Newbees
- There were 4 “Newbees” in attendance who introduced themselves.
- Minutes
- February 11, 2020 minutes approved.
- Treasurer’s report
- Seeley event tickets will be $60 for members, $70 for group pricing, $80 for non-members.
- Financial update to be provided at the next meeting.
- Tom Seeley Event
- Barbara FR asked about pricing for RBA spouses. Alan responded the Executive will review this matter at an upcoming Exec meeting.
- Ticket sales are expected to commence in April.
- Tom Seeley will provide 4 presentations. Darwinian Beekeeping and The lives of Bees will be the two signature presentations. Alan asked members to vote on the topic to be omitted from the 3 remaining options.
- Bee colony as a honey factory. 4 no votes
- Hive thirst. 8 no votes.
- Information centre. 11 no votes
So topics i and ii will be added to Tom’s speaking topics.
- Swarm collection

- BCHPA events
- BCHPA semi annual and annual conference events were reviewed. See bchpaconference.ca for more details.

- Julia Common spoke on spring assessments and management. Entertaining and informative as ever.
