Minutes for February 12, 2019

Meeting held in Kinsmen Pavilion at Richmond Nature Park, 7:30 pm

There were 25 people in attendance. Low attendance due to snowy conditions.

1. Welcome and introduction of Newbees
   1. There were no “Newbees” in attendance.
2. January 2019 AGM minutes
   1. Motion to approve January 2019 AGM minutes made by Steve, seconded by Ihor.
   2. Motion carried.
3. Financial Statements presented by Treasurer, Barbara

4. Review of Iotron procedure – Jonathan
5. Review of recent member survey and discussion of the following topics – led by Alan:

• Show of hands on earlier start time for RBA meeting – lots of hands, positive response
• Lots of respondents keen to come earlier to meetings for informal chat with experienced keepers
• Reminder that listserv (bcbees@googlegroups) e-mails go to all members
• Jonathan co-ordinating equipment
• Let’s continue to post presentations on web-site
• Suggestion to get a mic as some struggle to hear at the back of the room at RBA meetings
• Lots asked about mentorship. Mike suggested we break into groups at some RBA meetings including a group for beginners
• Finding a local mentor. There was a suggestion from the floor that we provide a member list that includes addresses so folks can seek out a local mentor
• Change name to suggest Metro Vancouver and not specifically Richmond. One member noted that we voted this down several years ago
• Can we ask Cities to list us and other clubs on their websites
