Minutes January 21, 2020 

Meeting held in Kinsmen Pavilion at Richmond Nature Park, 7:30 pm

There were about 50 people in attendance.

Executives in attendance: Alan Wong (President), Jonathan Jakes (Vice President), Gregg Ashby (Secretary), Jean Stewart (Member at large)

1. Welcome and introduction of Newbees
   1. There were 5 “Newbees” in attendance.
   2. Alan highlighted some achievements from 2019 and a year on year member increase from 106 to 133. Also, our success in booking Tom Seeley for October 17, 2020.
   3. Alan thanked the Executive and volunteers who served in 2019 and presented them with a small thank-you gift. As well, Jonathan thanked Alan and presented him with a small gift.
   4. Alan reminded us that the AGM and election of the new Executive will occur on February 11, 2020.
   5. We are looking for volunteers to coordinate:
      1. extractor rentals
      2. the swarm list
      3. sending equipment to Iotron for sanitisation (Iotron will no longer deal with individual members for small orders less than $750).
   6. Tito asked and Alan provided an explanation of our Mentorship program.

2. Minutes
   1. November 12, 2019 minutes approved.
3. Treasurer’s report
   1. In the absence of the Treasurer, Alan advised that our cash balance is up from $8,200 as of December 31^st, 2018 to $9,100 as of December 31^st, 2019.

5. Guest speakers
   1. Brian Campbell, “beeologist” gave a fascinating presentation on pollinators, their foraging behaviour, needs, and gardens that would be conducive to supporting them.
