RBA Monthly Meeting – Online Only event – Will Gruenwald – Fall/Winter Preparation
For those that joined Will Gruenwald of Chillardbee’s Apiaries discussion in April he talked about his very specific fall/winter prep he has honed over the years that has worked for him. Join us for a rare August meeting of the club for the “big three” things required for successful wintering which is disease/pest management, sufficient population and queen rightness, and assuring adequate stores. He will talk about a few mite control products and a particular focus on oxalic acid vapour treatment during brooding period and late fall follow up treatment. The emphasis is timing (particularly with mite control) for being on time with the various activities and not too late so a person can rest easy at the end of the season knowing that they’ve done all they could to put their hive in a position to overwinter.
It’s hard to discuss winter in August, but as many of you know this is a key time to get ready for getting through the winter.
This will be an online only meeting and we will be opening it up to other clubs. Please check the newsletter for the Zoom link for this event.
